I think that with all the buzz about google looking to butt IE and Microsoft with Chrome, a rather more interesting persepctive is being overlooked.
In this new Browser, in the comic book campaigning it, Google reminds me much more of apple.
The idea of rethinking things, building them from the ground up,
The idea of first realizing the gui, and working the program design philosophy from there on,
The ridiculous claim that bugs are impossible ("because we wrote the entire code" – from the comic), except as a result of plugins,
(The already growing track of ignored bug-reports in other Google products,)
To sum,
I don't know whether anyone at Google is looking to become the new Microsoft,
Google's actions at the moment are leading it to become the new Apple.
The only major difference I can tell, at the moment, between the Apple philosophy and the Google philosophy is that Chrome is open-source. One can only hope this will be a sign of things to come, so that Google won't inherit the "we know best, therefore we close source all our products" Apple way of mind.
(And, obviously, I havne't downloaded Chrome yet; I'm waiting for Version 2, or at the very least- for the first bug-fixes

לפחות הבוס שותף להומור. הוא העלה היום כלי נהדר חדש למערכת, ובעדכון הוא ציין שאמנם לא יצאנו בקומיקס, אבל הכלי מהפכני לא פחות. מבחינת תועלת מול פרזנטציה, הכלי שעלה הרבה יותר שימושי מדפדפן בטא של הענקית הבאה.

המחרוזת שראית שם איננה קשורה לגירסת הדפדפן או המנוע שלו. בעצם כן, אבל מסיבות היסטוריות כל הדפדפנים שתבדוק יגידו שהם מוזילה, אפילו אם הם ממש לא (אינטרנט אקספלורר למשל).
לענייננו – כרום מתבסס על מנוע webkit, שמשמש גם את ספארי, ומתבסס על המנוע khtml של קונקרור. מבחינת מנוע התצוגה אין קשר בין הדפדפנים, אם כי גוגל פירטו שהם השתמשו במקומות מסויימים בקוד של פרוייקט מוזילה (וזה חוקי מבחינת תנאי הרישיון).
